Chris Brannick

Britain’s foremost contemporary percussion soloist and chamber player. He is also professor of percussion at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Goldsmiths College. He regularly leads and co-ordinates workshops and his teaching and performances draw on his life time study and experience of ethnic percussions.

Chris's news:
  • Chris is just about to start a new part-time job as Head of Instrumental Studies for the borough of Newham – this means a real job for the first time in his life, with a name badge and a desk and a regular starting time… very different to what he’s done before!

  • He’ll be spending October in Hong Kong, though, examining for the Associated Board. This also means going to the same place every day at the same time – is this going to become a habit?

  • The promo CD ‘Tutankhamun – All Wrapped Up’ by cabaret duo 'Casson and The Brannick Academy' is being expanded and should be available as a full commercial CD in late September. At the moment it’s lacking a title… all suggestions gratefully received!

  • Chris’ Ghanaian xylophone teacher is visiting England at the end of September, which is fantastic. Chris will be spending as much time as possible with him, trying to learn more tunes and styles from the Dagaare people of Ghana.
